Kathy also appreciates the accuracy and ease of use of Desco’s charting program, along with its visual impact. “Perio charting is so instantaneous – punching a number on the keypad versus labor-intensive paper charting.”

The Kuffels take continuing education courses from the non-profit L.D. Pankey Institute and have completed a newer offering on digital dental photography. “Digital camera use is great in showing a visual picture and history. You see what you’ve started with and the progress in teeth whitening, orthodontics, and crown and bridge work,” Kathy explains. The office incorporates digital photography into its insurance correspondence, lab work, and patient treatment plans. “Patients appreciate ‘phased plans’ based on insurance dollars available. They know what’s coming and when.”
